The sports weekend ahead, August 8-9, 2026, brings a real treat for sports fans in Croatia. Although the derby between Rijeka and Dinamo at Rujevica has been postponed, the schedule remains exceptionally rich. On the agenda are four matches from the second round of the SuperSport Croatian Football League, the Zuffa Boxing 10 boxing spectacle in Dublin, and the final of the Women's U18 Handball World Championship in Romania.
The match between Rijeka and Dinamo, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to "force majeure." The decision was made by match commissioner Antonio Grahovac, citing the European commitments of both clubs. Rijeka played against Finnish side Ilves on August 6 in the third qualifying round of the Conference League, while Dinamo visits Kauno Žalgiris on August 11 in the same stage of the Champions League. The mandatory rest period between matches made it impossible to play on Saturday or Sunday, making postponement the only solution. A new date will be announced later.
The second round of the SHNL kicks off on Saturday at 6:30 PM with Rudeš hosting Osijek. The evening slot at 9:00 PM brings a Zagreb derby at Maksimir between Lokomotiva and Gorica. For fans of international football, Sport Klub will broadcast a friendly between Juventus and Inter at 1:05 PM, while Arena Sport offers matches from the Polish and Romanian leagues.
The highlight of Saturday evening is the Zuffa Boxing 10 spectacle at Dublin's 3Arena. Croatian viewers can watch the event exclusively on the VOYO platform. Preliminary bouts start at 6:00 PM, with the broadcast on VOYO beginning at 7:50 PM. The main card, starting at 8:00 PM, features a clash between undefeated middleweights Aaron McKenna (20-0) and Etinosa Oliha (22-0) for the vacant IBF world title. Also on the card are fights between Callum Walsh and Tyler Denny, and Joe Ward against the undefeated Artjom Kasparian.
Sunday's SHNL program begins at 6:30 PM in Koprivnica, where Slaven Belupo hosts Varaždin. The round concludes at Poljud at 9:00 PM with Hajduk facing Istra 1961. Both matches are broadcast on MAXSport channels. Meanwhile, fans of European football can catch a friendly between Arsenal and Dortmund at 3:00 PM on Sport Klub, as well as matches from the Dutch, Danish, and Slovenian leagues.
The handball highlight of the weekend is the final of the U18 Women's World Championship in Pitești, Romania. Spain and Montenegro will battle for the gold medal starting at 5:30 PM Croatian time. Before the final, at 3:00 PM, Egypt and Denmark play for bronze. The Croatian women's team finished the tournament in 18th place after a 34-26 loss to Portugal in the President's Cup final. The entire final phase of the championship is broadcast on the VOYO platform.
Throughout the weekend, in late-night slots, Sport Klub broadcasts the ATP Masters 1000 tournament from Montreal, giving tennis fans the chance to follow the world's best players.
