Summary
  • Traffic accident at km 78 of the A1 between Bosiljevo 2 and Ogulin in the direction of Dubrovnik, with a speed limit of 40 km/h.
  • Queues and delays on the A1 between Karlovac and Lučko and on the Zagreb bypass A3.
  • Roadworks on the A3 Popovača-Kutina last until September 1, and on the Sveta Nedelja-Zagreb zapad section until October 3.
  • For August 18, HAK forecasts wet roads in the interior and increased traffic at borders with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro.

At the 78th kilometer of the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići motorway, between the Bosiljevo 2 and Ogulin interchanges in the direction of Dubrovnik, traffic is moving at a speed limit of 40 km/h on Monday, August 17, 2026, due to a traffic accident. At the same time, in the opposite direction towards Zagreb, the Croatian Automobile Club reports queues and short delays on the section between the Karlovac and Lučko interchanges.

At the Lučko toll plaza, in both directions, as well as at Demerje in the direction of Zagreb, there are no long waits. HAK advises drivers to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions and to maintain a safe following distance between vehicles.

Lane Closures and Roadworks Until Autumn

On the Zagreb bypass, specifically the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway, traffic density is increased between the Buzin and Zagreb zapad interchanges in the direction of Bregana. Additional slowdowns are caused by ongoing roadworks on two sections of the same motorway.

Drainage rehabilitation on the section between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges, from km 90+700 to 93+800 in the direction of Lipovac, will last until September 1, 2026. Traffic there flows through two narrowed lanes, and during heavier traffic, especially on Fridays, queues and delays may form. Until October 3, 2026, roadworks are ongoing between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges, from km 12+480 to 15+300, where the carriageway in the direction of Lipovac is closed; traffic in both directions is diverted towards Bregana, with two narrowed lanes for each direction.

On the state road DC1 between Gračac and Knin, near Otrić, traffic is moving slowly in the roadworks zone. On DC47 Lipik-Novska, in the town of Jagma, due to a fire on a freight vehicle, traffic is alternating in one lane, with a speed limit of 30 km/h.

On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, traffic is restricted to the driving lane on the Krapina, Đurmanec section from km 17+500 to 13+750 in the direction of Macelj, and on the Trakošćan, Đurmanec section from km 6+700 to 8+200 in the direction of Zagreb.

Wet Roads and Bura Wind Below Velebit

According to HAK's traffic forecast for August 18, 2026, in the first part of the day, driving in the interior of the country will be on wet and slippery roads. In mountainous areas, roads will be more exposed to the risk of rockfalls, and due to the strong bura wind below Velebit, restrictions may be introduced for certain types of vehicles.

In the morning and afternoon, traffic on city roads and bypasses will be slower. Delays are expected on the Zagreb bypass (A3), on the A2 at the Zagreb zapad interchange towards Zagreb, and on the A4 between Popovac and Zagreb istok. At some border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, a higher number of passenger cars is expected. No problems are anticipated for maritime traffic.
