Following the win over Lokomotiva, coach Bessone gave the team three days off, and the good news is there are no new injuries.
Osijek opened the new season perfectly, and coach Bessone decided to reward his players after a successful start to the championship. The team will not reconvene until Wednesday morning, meaning the players have been given a three-day break before returning to daily training.
It is encouraging for Osijek that there are no fresh injuries after the last match against Lokomotiva. The list of injured players has not grown, which is particularly important given the existing absences in the squad.
The most closely monitored situation is that of Stanislav Šopov, who is gradually rejoining the rest of the team. At the moment, he is participating in training as a 'joker', meaning without maximum physical exertion, and his full return is planned for next month.
Vito Čaić is also working individually, as he got injured shortly after arriving at the club. Yannick Toure is again working at a reduced intensity due to new difficulties, while Anton Matković and Mateo Mejia remain sidelined. Their return is expected by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Osijek is also evaluating Matej Mitrović. The former Croatian international is on trial, and Bessone is not yet ready to make a final decision about his future.
I want to see him after a week or two of training, and then we will decide, said Osijek's coach.
After three days off, Osijek will resume training on Wednesday, and Bessone hopes that players who are currently not fully fit will gradually return in the coming weeks.
