A yellow warning has been issued for the Osijek and Slavonia region due to the heat expected at the start of the week, though temperatures will vary throughout the day.
The start of the new week brings a true summer challenge for residents of Osijek and Slavonia. Meteorologists have issued a yellow warning for Monday and Tuesday due to the heatwave, but interestingly, it will not be in effect all day, but rather from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both days.
According to data from Osijek Express, the warning is in effect from August 10 at 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The reason is the maximum daily temperature, which will exceed 35°C, the threshold for activating the yellow alert. However, the morning and late evening hours will bring noticeably more pleasant conditions.
The first day of the heatwave will see temperatures ranging between 32 and 37°C inland. In Osijek itself, the peak of the heat is expected around 4 p.m., when thermometers should read 35.1°C. The morning, on the other hand, will be significantly cooler, the lowest temperature is forecast for around 6 a.m., at a pleasant 18.3°C.
The weather in Osijek will be completely dry, with clear skies and a zero percent chance of precipitation. Winds will be light, at speeds between 4 and 9 kilometers per hour, meaning there will be no significant relief. The UV index will reach 6.65, so it is recommended to avoid direct sun between noon and early afternoon hours.
The second day of the heatwave brings additional warming. According to the Osijek Express forecast, the highest daily temperature on Tuesday will range from 32 to 38°C. Sunny weather will continue to prevail, and temperatures will stay above 35°C for longer periods, making the heat even more intense.
The yellow warning remains in effect for this day as well, and citizens are advised to adjust their daily activities, avoid being in the sun during the hottest part of the day, and stay well hydrated.
After two scorching days, a gradual drop in temperatures is expected from Wednesday. Although it will still be hot, the heatwave will weaken, and conditions will become more bearable. Specific temperature values for Wednesday and Thursday in Osijek are not provided by sources, but noticeably more pleasant weather is expected.
The sun will rise at 5:39 a.m. and set at 8:01 p.m. during these days. Due to the long period of daytime heat and high UV index, special caution is recommended for the elderly, chronic patients, and children. Outdoor activities are best planned for the early morning or late evening hours.
