Paus Announces Support for Milanović: 'I Want to Be Crystal Clear'

The IDS parliamentary representative demands political accountability for systemic failures from Customs to ministers, leaving everything else to the judiciary.
Dalibor Paus, referred to by Telegram.hr as the former head of IDS, while Jutarnji list describes him as the president of IDS, spoke out on Facebook ahead of the extraordinary session of the Croatian Parliament scheduled for August 20, 2026. The session was called due to the ecological disaster in Gospić, and Paus stated that he would support the conclusions of President Zoran Milanović.
In his post, he said he decided to speak out "after numerous inquiries from Istrians on the ground and after somewhat surprising questions from journalists." His post was carried by Telegram.hr and Jutarnji list.
Paus made clear what stance he would take at tomorrow's session. "I will support President Zoran Milanović's conclusions tomorrow in Parliament and will demand political accountability for all systemic failures, from Customs and inspectorates to ministers who are late with remediation," Paus wrote.
He added that this is the only correct and important thing "for the sake of democratic hygiene in Croatia." Everything else, he believes, falls within the domain of the judiciary, and he expressed hope that judicial institutions will do their job quickly and efficiently, as stated in the post carried by Jutarnji list.
Paus also lashed out at a system that, he claims, fails to respond to organized crime and ecocide. "When cigarettes fall at the border with contraband, you go to prison. When thousands of trucks in broad daylight across Croatia carry out organized crime and ecocide, the system sticks its head in the sand, and individuals pretend not to see," he said.
The IDS representative concluded with a sharp message: "Well, don't make fools of taxpayers whose health, space, and nature you are supposed to protect and to whom, at the end of the day, we all answer."
Interestingly, sources disagree on whether Paus is currently the president of IDS or the former head of the party. Telegram.hr lists him as the former head of IDS, while Jutarnji list refers to him as the president of IDS. In both cases, it is the same person, parliamentary representative Dalibor Paus, whose Facebook post was published on August 19, 2026.
