Croatian tennis player Mate Pavić and Salvadoran Marcelo Arevalo defeated the French duo Arribage and Olivetti 6:4, 6:4 in the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal.
Mate Pavić and Marcelo Arevalo have advanced to the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal, Canada. The third seeds defeated French pair Théo Arribage and Albano Olivetti 2-0 in sets, 6:4, 6:4, on Wednesday evening, August 12, 2026.
The first set was a tight contest. Pavić and Arevalo made the crucial break at 2-2 and held that advantage until serving for the set. They then faced four consecutive break points but managed to save them all and take the set 6:4. These were the only break points the French pair had in the entire match.
In the second set, the break came slightly earlier than expected. The Croatian and Salvadoran duo broke the French serve at 1-1 and maintained that lead for the rest of the set. The final score was 6:4, 6:4, securing their place in the final. They reached the championship match without dropping a set.
This is Pavić and Arevalo's third consecutive final, following their title at Queen's Club and the Wimbledon final, and their fifth overall in 2026. They will compete for their ninth joint title, and their fifth at Masters 1000 level, against Brazilians Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos.
This is Pavić's 80th ATP final in his career, and only his second at the Canadian Masters. His last appearance was in 2021, when the tournament was held in Toronto. Back then, he and Nikola Mektić lost in the final to the American-British combination of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury. The Split native will be playing in his 17th Masters 1000 final, having won nine of them, and he has 43 career titles.
In the final of this year's Masters, Pavić and Arevalo will face the winners of the match between Brazilians Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos and Argentines Francisco Cerúndolo and Tomás Martín Etcheverry.
If he wins the title in Montreal, Pavić will still need Madrid, Paris, and the season-ending Tour Finals in Turin to complete his collection of all Masters titles.
