Philharmonix Return to the Rector's Palace: 100 Tickets Released

After effortlessly winning over the Dubrovnik audience last summer, the ensemble Philharmonix, The Vienna Berlin Music Club returns to the city beneath Mount Srđ. Their concert is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, in the atrium of the Rector's Palace, with the start time set for 9:30 PM. Due to exceptional interest, the organizers have decided to release an additional 100 standing-room tickets for sale.
This unique ensemble is composed of top-tier musicians from two of Europe's most prestigious orchestras. Violinists Noah Bendix-Balgley and Sebastian Gürtler, violist Thilo Fechner, cellist Stephan Koncz, double bassist Ödön Rácz, clarinetist Daniel Ottensamer, and pianist Christoph Traxler bring something entirely different from what is typically expected of classical musicians.
The festival program of the 77th Dubrovnik Summer Festival this year is infused with the lightness and mysterious beauty of the North, and the Philharmonix performance fits perfectly into this concept. The ensemble will perform "Romance" by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, as well as original compositions by Sebastian Gürtler, "Midsummer Night's Hymn" and "Harvest Polka from Latgale." A special treat will be an arrangement of music from the film "Titanic" by Stephan Koncz.
The Dubrovnik Summer Festival organizers highlight that the ensemble's trademark is brilliant arrangements, incomparable virtuosity, and, above all, unbridled joy in making music together. "That joy is transmitted to the listener within seconds," the organizers say, adding that last summer they won over the festival audience with a unique blend of top-notch performance, humor, and infectious energy.
Philharmonix records exclusively for the prestigious label Deutsche Grammophon. They released their debut album, "The Vienna Berlin Music Club Vol. I," in 2018 and immediately won the Opus Klassik award for it. This was followed by "Vol. II" in 2019 and "Vol. III" in 2022. The festival announcement states that few categories could be more fitting than "classical music without borders", the expertise in classical music that all members possess is not a barrier here, but rather an inspiring gateway to new musical experiences.
The ensemble regularly performs in Europe's most prestigious venues, including the Vienna Konzerthaus, Berlin Philharmonie, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Kulturpalast Dresden, Philharmonie Essen, Luxembourg Philharmonie, and Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie. Their return to the Rector's Palace is yet another confirmation that Dubrovnik has established itself as an unmissable stop on Europe's cultural map.
