In Pag, police officers conducted a criminal investigation against two men, Croatian nationals aged 20 and 22, who were arrested for disturbing public peace and order during the night in that area. It was established that they, as suspected, on August 18, 2026, at 2:30 AM in the town of Povljana, while under the influence of alcohol, in a highly offensive and rude manner, verbally and physically attacked a 21-year-old man who is a Serbian citizen.
The victim sustained minor physical injuries in the attack. In addition to the physical altercation, the 20-year-old suspect also insulted the 21-year-old based on his ethnicity, thereby committing an offense under the Anti-Discrimination Act, the Zadar Police Department reported.
After the criminal investigation was completed, both suspects were brought to the competent municipal court in an expedited procedure with a motion for indictment. After being questioned, the younger suspect (20) was ordered to be detained for 10 days and was subsequently taken to prison.
The incident occurred in Povljana on the island of Pag, and police stated that both suspects behaved in a particularly insolent and rude manner. Sources do not provide details on the further course of proceedings for the 22-year-old.
According to reports, the arrest of the two suspects took place yesterday morning, and the criminal investigation was conducted by officers from the Pag Police Station. After the court hearing, the 20-year-old was remanded to prison, while no information is available on measures for the 22-year-old.
