The Prime Minister confirmed in Sinj that all five energy products will be cheaper from Tuesday, and the Government is switching to weekly price adjustments to respond more quickly to market changes.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Sinj new fuel price reductions that will take effect at the start of next week. At the same time, he revealed that the Croatian Government is changing its pricing methodology and will henceforth respond on a weekly, rather than biweekly, basis. The news was delivered during his visit to the 311th Sinjska Alka.
According to the Prime Minister, the decision on new prices will be made at a telephone session of the Government on Monday morning. "Eurosuper will be lower by six cents, eurodiesel by four, blue diesel by three, and gas in tanks and bottles by as much as eight cents," Plenković stated, as reported by HRT. He emphasized that all five energy products will be cheaper from Tuesday. Sources also reveal specific new prices: eurodiesel will cost €1.71, eurosuper €1.56, and blue diesel €1.18 per liter.
Although sources agree on the amount of the reductions, there is slight disagreement over the exact date the new prices take effect. Večernji list suggests that lower prices could apply as early as Monday, while HRT and the Prime Minister himself, in a statement to HRT, mention Tuesday as the day fuel becomes cheaper. Plenković stated: "From tomorrow, fuel—all five energy products—will be cheaper."
The key news is the change in the Government's approach. "After receiving the data this morning, we decided to change the methodology, and the Government will now respond on a weekly basis instead of biweekly. This change will already bring benefits to our drivers, the economy, and citizens," Plenković explained. This decision should allow movements in global market prices to be reflected more quickly at domestic gas stations, and the Prime Minister emphasized that fuel prices will henceforth be adjusted more frequently, on a weekly basis, to market trends.
The Prime Minister summarized the new methodology and the announced reductions as excellent news for citizens. "So, this is great news for our drivers," Plenković concluded, adding that it is also good news for the economy.
In addition to economic topics, the Prime Minister also commented on other current events during the weekend. On social media, he congratulated the participants of the 29th Lađa Marathon in the Neretva Valley, an event that brings together 31 teams and around 400 rowers. "A beautiful day in the Neretva Valley and a fantastic 29th Lađa Marathon race! Congratulations to all participants, especially the teams from Crni Put and Komin on their great sporting achievement and joint finish," Plenković wrote, adding that the Government will continue to provide strong support to this event that preserves the heritage and identity of the Neretva region.
The day before, the Prime Minister also addressed the pressing issue of illegal waste disposal. "We held a meeting with all relevant stakeholders to resolve the problem of illegal waste disposal in the area of Gospić and Lika-Senj County. All those responsible must be prosecuted, and at the same time, a remediation plan should be prepared with support from the Environmental Protection Fund," Plenković stated.
