As part of the intensified maritime traffic inspection in the Senj area, conducted on Tuesday, 18 violations of regulations were recorded. A total of 3,280 euros in fines was collected on the spot from offenders, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure announced.
In the area of the Senj Port Authority and its branch offices, a coordinated operation was carried out involving eight officers and three vessels. During the day, they covered a total of 204 nautical miles. Informational support was provided by the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), which supplied real-time data on high-traffic zones and observed irregularities.
The inspection focused on excessive speed, control of vessel rentals, and passenger boats for day trips.
Officers conducted 41 inspections. The most common violation was speeding, i.e., failing to comply with the prescribed maximum speed limit, recorded in ten cases. The remaining eight violations concerned the technical condition of vessels and the validity of vessel and crew documentation.
The total amount of fines imposed reached 6,306 euros. Of that, 4,380 euros pertains solely to sanctions for excessive speed. Fifteen fines totaling 3,280 euros were collected on the spot.
The Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure announced that such intensified inspection operations will continue throughout the season, citing the significant increase in the number of domestic and foreign vessels in the Adriatic as the main reason.
