Arrest in the Old Town

The suspect was spotted late on Friday night, August 7, 2026, in the narrow streets of Dubrovnik's Old Town. Police caught him in the act of handing over a package of drugs to a foreign national, a Serbian citizen. Officers intervened immediately, seizing one gram of cocaine from the buyer, who was issued a misdemeanor citation under the Act on Combating Drug Abuse.

At the same time, the 52-year-old dealer was taken into custody. During the arrest, he voluntarily handed over three packages containing a total of 2.8 grams of cocaine that he had hidden in his clothing. A further search revealed three additional packages hidden in a modified casing of a technical device that was part of his work equipment, containing a total of 2.4 grams of the same substance.

Apartment Search Reveals the True Scale

Based on a warrant from the County Court in Dubrovnik, a search was conducted on Saturday, August 8, of the apartment in Dubrovnik used by the suspect. There, police found and seized an additional 430 grams of cocaine, packaged in four larger parcels. In addition to the drugs, police also confiscated two precision digital scales and as many as 294 empty PVC bags, which are suspected to have been intended for street-level dealing.

Detention Ordered

After the criminal investigation was completed, the suspect was handed over to the custody supervisor of the Dubrovnik-Neretva Police Department along with a criminal complaint. The investigating judge at the County Court in Dubrovnik ordered him to remain in custody for up to one month, after which he was transferred to the Dubrovnik prison.
