Investigators conducted a search on Tuesday morning at the order of the County State Attorney's Office. The county says public procurement procedures were carried out transparently.
On Tuesday morning, police officers entered the premises of the Brod-Posavina County in Slavonski Brod and took possession of part of the documentation. The Brod-Posavina Police Department stated that an investigation and criminal processing are underway, but details are not yet available.
According to information released by the County itself, officers from the Brod-Posavina Police Department arrived at the regional self-government premises to review the implementation of public procurement procedures. "Officers of the Brod-Posavina Police Department are today at the Brod-Posavina County to review the implementation of public procurement procedures," the County announced.
The County stated that they are open to cooperation with the competent authorities and will make all necessary documentation and information available during the process. "We emphasize that public procurement procedures were carried out transparently, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and we will continue to act responsibly within our jurisdiction," their statement reads.
According to reports from 035portal, an investigation is being conducted in the Brod-Posavina County building at the order of the competent County State Attorney's Office. Confirmation was given by both the County State Attorney's Office and the police, but due to the confidentiality of the investigation, it is not yet disclosed what exactly is being examined or against whom the actions are directed.
The police briefly stated: "An investigation is underway, and criminal processing is in progress." It is currently unclear which specific public procurement procedures are under review, what time period they refer to, or whether this is a continuation of an earlier process or new findings.
Today's action comes just over a week after police investigators entered the premises of the Slavonski Brod City Administration, where documentation was also seized from the office of Mayor Mirko Duspara. It is not known whether there is a connection between the two cases.
Although the HDZ party is at the helm of the Brod-Posavina County, the mere fact that the police are acting in the county building does not necessarily indicate that the party is under investigation. There is no official information on this matter. The County emphasizes that it is too early to draw any conclusions about possible irregularities.
The Brod-Posavina County announced that it will share all relevant information about the police action with the public in a timely manner through its official online channels and social media.
