"On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at around 00:50 AM, in Velebitska Street in Split, a detonation occurred inside a parked vehicle. There are no injured persons, and according to initial information, no material damage has been observed to other parked vehicles or nearby buildings. The road section from the intersection of Velebitska and Brune Bušića Street to the intersection of Velebitska and Dubrovačka Street has been temporarily closed for the investigation," the police response states.

Split firefighters also responded to the scene, with three members of the Split Public Fire Brigade and one vehicle carrying out the intervention. After their response, the police took over further actions to determine the circumstances and cause of the explosion.
