On Monday, August 17, 2026, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) reported increased traffic on main roads toward the coast, with occasional slowdowns on some highway sections, especially near rest areas, tunnels, and toll booths.
Queues at Zagreb Junctions
The heaviest congestion is being recorded at the entrance to Zagreb. At the Zagreb West junction, the queue is about four kilometers long. On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj highway, before the Trakošćan toll booth in the direction of Zagreb, drivers are waiting in a queue of about one kilometer.
On the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići highway, before the Lučko toll booth in the direction of the coast, a higher number of vehicles is noticeable, and denser traffic continues all the way to Bosiljevo. According to HRT reports, on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac, on the Zagreb bypass between the Zagreb West junction and the Lučko junction in the direction of Lipovac, as well as between the Zagreb East junction and the Kosnica junction in the direction of Bregana, traffic is denser.
On the A4 Goričan-Zagreb, traffic is heavier between the Popovec junction and the Zagreb East junction in the direction of Zagreb.
Disruptions in Maritime Traffic
In addition to road congestion, passengers are also facing problems in maritime traffic. Jadrolinija's ferry line 54, which connects Dubrovnik and Bari, is currently not operating due to a technical breakdown. Furthermore, Jadrolinija's catamaran line 323, which runs from Kraljevica via Crikvenica, Senj, Baška, Lopar, and Rab to Lun, has also been suspended due to adverse weather conditions.
HAK advises drivers to arm themselves with patience and to check current traffic information before setting off on their journey.
