This triumph in the third-place match of the Women's Champions League mini-qualifying tournament earned them a place in the first qualifying round of the European Cup.
After a semifinal loss to Austria Wien, coach Damir Matulović's squad needed a quick reset. Against Mura, they came out far more determined and took control from the first minute. As early as the 16th minute, Luana Vanjak had the first serious chance, but her shot from about 11 meters went just wide of the right post. Lana Kukavica also threatened with a strike from the edge of the box that sailed over the crossbar.
Despite complete dominance and several clear-cut opportunities, Mura's net remained untouched in the first half. The Split side dictated the tempo, kept the Slovenians far from their goal, and went into the break at 0:0, although the play promised more.
The second half followed a similar script. Hajduk's pressure finally paid off in the 60th minute. In-form Luana Vanjak broke down the left flank and cut the ball back to Barbara Živković, who fired a precise shot from 11 meters into the back of the net to give her side the lead and spark wild celebrations.
Mura's players tried to increase the pressure after conceding, but Hajduk's defense, led by goalkeeper Kalac and defenders Bukač, Pedić, and others, stood firm. The question of the winner was settled two minutes before the end of regulation time. In the 88th minute, captain Ana Bakalar took responsibility and calmly converted a penalty to make it 2:0.
The match data clearly reflect the balance of power on the pitch. Hajduk had 66 percent possession and fired a total of 20 shots at the opponent's goal, with 13 on target. Coach Matulović made several substitutions during the second half: Prskalo replaced Brnić in the 57th minute, a minute later Bagarić came on for Vanjak, and in the 56th minute Kalaš replaced Vlastelica. In the 80th minute, two more changes followed-Herceg came on for Dulčić and Marković for Živković.
