Tucaković: Nothing Is at Risk
Chief Fire Officer Slavko Tucaković confirmed to the media that the situation has been stabilized. "The fire broke out in the afternoon, at one point threatened houses, but it was successfully kept away from them. Ground forces, one Canadair, and one Air Tractor are extinguishing it," Tucaković said.
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia (MORH) confirmed the deployment of one Canadair CL-415 and one Air Tractor AT-802 to the fire site in Zadar County. Footage of the fire quickly spread on social media, and numerous ground firefighting forces were dispatched to the scene.
Forces Redirected from Dinara
The air units found themselves at this fire site amid a complex operational distribution of resources, given that the Canadairs are also operating simultaneously on the fire on Dinara. Tucaković explained that part of the forces from Dinara were temporarily redirected to provide rapid support near Zadar.
"The Canadairs extinguishing the fire on Dinara, which we believe we can finish off today, will drop a few water bombs on this fire site and then continue to Dinara, and if the need arises, we will redirect them from Dinara. At this moment, nothing is at risk," Tucaković emphasized.
The Croatian Firefighting Community reported that a fire broke out in an open area near the village of Jovići in Zadar County, and that firefighters are on the scene. According to HRT, the fire is still active, but the houses have been successfully defended.
