The State Fire Academy will publish its call for applications on August 24, 2026, for enrollment in programs leading to the qualifications of "firefighter" and "fire technician" for the 2026/2027 school year. According to information from the Studentski.hr portal, classes will be held at the school's main building in Zagreb, as well as at its regional units in Osijek, Rijeka, and Split.
Interested candidates will be able to apply online from August 25 to August 30, 2026, until 11:59 PM. Applications are submitted online and must include supporting documents in PDF format.
During the online application process, candidates must submit several documents. These include a birth certificate, proof of citizenship, transcripts from all years of secondary school, and a certificate of passing the final exam or state matriculation exam. Additionally, a certificate from an authorized healthcare institution is required, confirming the candidate's specific health condition and psychological readiness for work in firefighting.
Employed candidates working in positions requiring a firefighting qualification must also submit a copy of their employment contract. The health fitness certificate must be valid at the time of application; if it expires during the training period, it must be renewed.
The cost of training is €1,500, payable in a single installment. Admitted candidates must present proof of payment upon enrollment, along with the original requested documents.
For participants in Zagreb, accommodation is available. The school offers housing for 40 participants in double rooms with private bathrooms, at a monthly fee of €150. Preference will be given to candidates who do not reside in Zagreb. Accommodation applications can be submitted from September 1 to September 7, 2026.
Final admission results will be published on September 11, 2026, with enrollment taking place from September 14 to September 18. Details regarding the exact time and location of enrollment for each site will be announced later on the school's website. Classes for the new school year begin on October 5, 2026.
It is important to note that participants must procure their own personal protective equipment required for the training. This includes, among other items, a firefighting suit, footwear, gloves, and a helmet; the exact list of equipment will be specified in the call for applications.
