Summary
  • Traffic accident on A3 near Ivanić Grad causes driving with a speed limit of 80 km/h.
  • Queues are forming on A1 and Krk Bridge towards the mainland.
  • Wet roads and possible flooding are forecast across Croatia for tomorrow.

Due to a traffic accident on the A3 motorway between the Ivanić Grad junction and the Ježevo rest area towards Bregana, traffic is moving in two lanes with a speed limit of 80 km/h, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) reported on Saturday evening. At the same time, queues are forming on other major roads towards the coast and inland.

Queues on A1 and Krk Bridge

On the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići motorway, between the Bosiljevo 2 junction and the Lučko toll plaza towards Zagreb, traffic is moving in queues with occasional stops. At the Lučko and Demerje toll plazas, in both directions for Lučko and towards Zagreb for Demerje, there are currently no significant waits.

On the Krk Bridge (DC102), when heading towards the mainland, vehicles are in a queue starting from Malinska. HAK advises drivers to pay attention to heavier traffic on main roads leading to the coast and inland, on coastal roads, and at most border crossings.

Roadworks on A3 and A2

Until September 1, drainage repair works are ongoing on the A3 between the Popovača and Kutina junctions towards Lipovac (from km 90+700 to km 93+800), where traffic is moving in two narrowed lanes. Due to increased traffic, delays and queues can be expected, especially on Fridays.

Due to works on the section between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad junctions, specifically from km 12+480 to km 15+300, traffic towards Lipovac will be suspended until October 3. Traffic is running in both directions using the carriageway towards Bregana, with two narrowed lanes in each direction. Delays and queues are likely, especially in the morning and afternoon, and throughout the day on weekends.

On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, traffic is moving in a single lane: on the Krapina, Đurmanec section, from km 17+500 to km 13+750 towards Macelj, and on the Trakošćan, Đurmanec section, from km 6+700 to km 8+200 towards Zagreb.

Ban for Heavy Vehicles and Tomorrow's Forecast

Until 11:00 PM, a traffic ban is in effect for heavy motor vehicles with a maximum permissible mass over 7.5 tons on certain state roads in Istria and the coastal area. There is no ban on motorways and state road DC1, where between Gračac and Knin near Otrić, traffic moves slowly through a work zone.

For Sunday, August 17, 2026, HAK forecasts wet and slippery roads across the country, with possible localized flooding. Due to locally heavy rain, there is an increased risk of landslides on roads in mountainous areas. Slower traffic is expected on the Zagreb bypass (A3), the Rijeka bypass, on the A2 motorway near the Zagreb zapad junction towards Zagreb, and on the A4 motorway between the Popovec and Zagreb istok junctions.

Increased passenger and freight traffic is expected at some border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro. Due to adverse weather conditions, changes in ferry schedules and disruptions on certain maritime lines are possible.
