Paris Saint-Germain has agreed a deal for 23-year-old Zion Suzuki from Parma, but the goalkeeper could continue his career on loan at the Turin club.
Paris Saint-Germain has reached a preliminary agreement with Parma for the transfer of Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. The news was confirmed on Monday by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano with his trademark 'here we go', with the total fee amounting to €35 million.
Although Suzuki has been brought in as a signing for the future, his stay in Paris this season is not certain. According to information from Goal.com, PSG is considering sending the 23-year-old out on loan immediately to get much-needed playing time. The main candidate for such an arrangement is Juventus, from which a final decision is expected soon.
Suzuki could immediately take on the role of first-choice goalkeeper at the Turin club. Indeed, Juventus is in the process of selling current first-choice goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, which opens up a spot between the posts. The Japanese international is currently valued at €30 million according to Transfermarkt.
In his career so far, Suzuki has made 59 appearances for Parma, during which he has conceded 83 goals and kept 14 clean sheets. Before arriving in Italy, he played for Japan's Urawa and Belgium's Sint-Truiden.
Details on whether Suzuki will be loaned out or kept in Paris should be clarified during negotiations early next week.
