He added that the fleet commander had shared his assessment of the situation in the region the day before, with which he fully agrees.

"Today, I would like to hear your proposals on what else needs to be done to create conditions for the most effective achievement of our goals,"

On August 12, Putin arrived to observe the final phase of the Pacific Fleet's military exercises, which began on August 4 with the aim of defending Russia's Far Eastern borders. The exercises took place in the waters of the Sea of Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk, and the northwestern Pacific Ocean.

The maneuvers involved nearly 60 surface ships, submarines, and support vessels, about 30 aircraft, helicopters, and drones, and more than 13,000 troops, according to TASS.

The Russian president observed the maneuvers and live-fire exercises from the command bridge of the missile cruiser Varyag, the flagship of the Pacific Fleet, and later had lunch with the crew. He thanked the commander and all sailors for the exercises, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the combat readiness of the fleet and the entire Russian armed forces.
