Drivers on Croatian motorways can expect significant delays and extraordinary situations today. The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) in its report from Monday, August 17, 2026, highlights several roadworks and events affecting traffic flow, with the longest restriction in force on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway.
Due to roadworks between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges, on the section from km 12+480 to km 15+300, the carriageway towards Lipovac is closed. Currently, traffic is running in both directions, with two narrowed lanes for each direction on the carriageway towards Bregana. This restriction lasts until October 3, and HAK warns that delays and queues are possible especially in the morning and afternoon hours, as well as throughout the day on weekends.
Additionally, on the same motorway section, until September 1, drainage rehabilitation is underway between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges, towards Lipovac, at kilometer 90+700 to 93+800. Traffic is running in two narrowed lanes, and increased traffic density is possible especially on Fridays.
Until August 31, the Kraljeva Velika north and south rest areas are closed in both directions, and until December 31, temporary traffic regulation is in effect at the Zagreb zapad (Jankomir) interchange, where traffic runs in one lane.
On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, before the Trakošćan toll station towards Zagreb, the queue is about 1 km long. On the A3 motorway, towards the Lučko toll station (A1), coming from the direction of Buzin, the queue is approximately 2 kilometers long. On the A2, driving is only in the driving lane on two sections: from km 17+500 to km 13+750 towards Macelj (Krapina, Đurmanec) and from km 6+700 to km 8+200 towards Zagreb (Trakošćan, Đurmanec).
On the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići motorway, at km 60+000 between the Novigrad and Bosiljevo 1 interchanges, a wild boar has been spotted. Traffic is flowing in both directions with two lanes each way, and the maximum permitted speed is limited to 80 km/h. Before the Lučko toll station towards the coast, a higher influx of vehicles is recorded, with increased traffic density extending to Bosiljevo.
On the A4 Goričan-Zagreb motorway, until August 30, roadworks are ongoing on the Zagreb istok-Popovec section between km 95 and km 91+800. Towards Goričan, traffic is running in two directions: two narrowed lanes for the direction of Zagreb and one narrowed lane for the direction of Goričan, with a speed limit of 80 km/h. All connections at the Zagreb istok and Sesvete interchanges are currently fully open to traffic.
Until September 5, 2026, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, an exceptional transport will travel from the ČCNP Karamatići (A1) to the Bisko interchange (A1). From August 3 to September 2, in four night slots between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM, traffic will be briefly stopped in the zone of the Županja interchange due to the passage of exceptional transport.
According to HAK's traffic forecast for August 17, 2026, across the country, roads will be wet and slippery, with occasional flooding of the roadway possible. In mountainous areas, due to locally heavy rainfall, there is an increased risk of landslides. In the morning and afternoon hours, slower driving is expected on city roads and bypasses, especially on the Zagreb (A3) and Rijeka bypasses, on the A2 motorway at the Zagreb zapad interchange towards Zagreb, and on the A4 motorway between the Popovec and Zagreb istok interchanges.
Increased traffic is also expected on roads connecting the coast with the interior, and occasional delays and queues will occur in areas of roadworks, tunnels, interchanges, rest areas, and toll stations, as well as on approaches to tourist destinations. At certain border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, increased passenger and freight traffic is expected.
