The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) in its report of August 12, 2026, warns drivers of significant changes in traffic flow on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway. Due to roadworks, the carriageway towards Lipovac is completely closed until October 3, 2026, on the section between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges, specifically from kilometer 12 + 480 meters to kilometer 15 + 300 meters.
Two-way traffic and expected congestion
During the roadworks, all traffic is redirected to the carriageway intended for the direction of Bregana, where it will run in both directions, with two narrowed traffic lanes in each direction. HAK warns that due to increased traffic density, delays and queues are possible, especially in the morning and afternoon hours, as well as throughout the day on weekends.
Additional pressure on this section is caused by the congestion already recorded on the Zagreb bypass between the Lučko and Zagreb zapad interchanges in the direction of Bregana.
Restrictions also on the A2 motorway
On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, the situation is not any simpler. On two sections, traffic is running on only one lane. In the direction of Macelj, on the Krapina, Đurmanec section (from km 17+500 to 13+750), only the driving lane is in use. The same situation applies in the direction of Zagreb on the Trakošćan, Đurmanec section (from km 6+700 to 8+200).
Works in the east and forecast for Tuesday
Drivers traveling on the eastern part of the A3 should expect drainage repair works between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges in the direction of Lipovac (from km 90+700 to 93+800). These works last until September 1, 2026, and traffic runs on two narrowed lanes, with the possibility of queues, especially on Fridays.
According to HAK's traffic forecast for Tuesday, August 13, 2026, increased traffic and slower driving are expected on city roads and bypasses. Delays and queues are particularly anticipated on the Zagreb (A3) and Rijeka (A7) bypasses, as well as on the A2 motorway at the Zagreb zapad interchange. Increased traffic is also expected on roads towards the coast, and occasional delays are possible in tunnel zones, rest areas, toll plazas, and on approaches to tourist destinations. Due to strong bora winds on the Adriatic, restrictions are in place for certain vehicle groups on the Adriatic Highway, especially in the Velebit area.
