As reported to eZadar by the Municipality of Ražanac, the project encompassing the Tourist Information Center and the Bura Museum in Ražanac, with a total value exceeding 663 thousand euros, has been successfully submitted for EU funding and is currently in the administrative verification and evaluation phase. The total estimated cost of the project, including VAT, amounts to 663,614.04 euros, of which 557,435.79 euros would be covered by funds from the ITU mechanism of the City of Zadar.

According to representatives of the Municipality, all necessary permits and confirmations of the main project have already been obtained for the planned works. If funding is approved, the next step will be conducting a public procurement procedure to select contractors and equipment suppliers. Works are expected to begin within two to three months after signing the contract, and the entire reconstruction and equipping process is planned to last approximately four months.

A Bura You Can Feel

If the project gets the green light, the old building in the core of Ražanac should be transformed into a modern multimedia center where visitors will not only learn about the bura through photographs and stories but will also be able to "feel" it.

The future contents of the museum were described by Ante Miletić, head of the Administrative Department for Utilities, Spatial Planning, and EU Funds.

"Special emphasis in this project is placed on the very concept of the Bura Museum, which envisions a complete transformation of the old building in the authentic core of Ražanac into a modern multimedia and educational interpretation center. The central part of the interior museum display will consist of an advanced projection system for 3D mapping combined with an interactive wind simulation installation, which visitors will be able to control with their own movements, thus experiencing the power and specificity of the hurricane-force Ražanac bura in an innovative, sensory way."

Content Adapted to All Age Groups

In addition to the wind simulation itself, Miletić also announces rich accompanying content.

"Alongside the wind simulation, the museum space will be equipped with modern interactive touch screens, virtual guides, digital brochures, and educational quizzes that thoroughly address the impact of the bura on shaping the local landscape, traditional way of life, architecture, and rich cultural heritage of the Ražanac area. All visual and multimedia content is fully designed to suit all age groups, with special emphasis on accessibility for children and people with disabilities or reduced mobility. In addition to the interior exhibition space, the project also includes the arrangement of an outdoor courtyard plateau that will serve as a versatile ambient space for hosting summer cultural events, thematic workshops, and open-air screenings."

The project was submitted after the closure of the "TOURISM UPWARDS!" call, and the Municipality also provided several 3D visuals showing what the Bura Museum could look like one day.
