Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders has officially left Manchester City and signed for Saudi club Al Qadsiah, as confirmed in an exclusive announcement by Fabrizio Romano. The transfer fee amounts to €61 million, with the 28-year-old midfielder having spent just over a year at the English champions. According to British media reports, the fee is £52 million, and Reijnders has signed a contract with the Saudi club until 2031.
Reijnders joined Manchester City from AC Milan in June 2025, with that transfer valued at £46.5 million. In the English club's colors, he made 50 appearances across all competitions and scored seven goals, winning the FA Cup and the League Cup in Pep Guardiola's final season at the helm. He also represented the Netherlands at this year's World Cup, starting all three group-stage matches, but remained on the bench in the round-of-16 loss to Morocco. In total, he has 35 caps for his national team.
"Being part of a team that won two such special trophies last season was an incredible experience and an achievement I will remember forever," Reijnders said in a statement carried by Reuters. "I may be leaving, but Manchester City will always hold a special place in my heart."
In the same statement, he also expressed gratitude to everyone at the club: "From the moment I arrived, everyone at the club, players, coaches, and staff, made me feel welcome and part of the Manchester City family. I especially thank the City fans who were so warm and supportive to me and my family."
Reijnders' departure is the latest change in Manchester City's midfield following Rodri's previous move to Barcelona for £65 million. In addition to Rodri, Bernardo Silva also left the club this summer, signing for Real Madrid as a free agent after his contract expired. New manager Enzo Maresca did not include Reijnders in the squad for the Community Shield, in which City lost 0-3 to Arsenal. Reijnders last appeared for City in a friendly against Atletico Madrid in Seoul on August 9, 2026, as part of the Coupang Play Series at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Al Qadsiah is a Saudi club that continues to attract established European names to Saudi Arabia, and the €61 million acquisition of the Dutch international is yet another indication of the club's ambitions. The club is owned by the state oil company Aramco, and the team is managed by Brendan Rodgers, the former Liverpool, Celtic, and Leicester manager. Reijnders began his professional career at Zwolle, and before Milan, he also played for AZ Alkmaar and Waalwijk.
