The Municipality of Pojezerje Day and the Feast of St. Roch are being celebrated today, August 16, 2026, and this year's celebration has taken on a special humanitarian dimension. The traditional Fishermen's Night at the Doci Sports Center will not only be an opportunity for socializing and entertainment, but also a place where aid will be collected for families affected by the large fire in the Omiš area.
How the Celebration Unfolds
The observance began with a Holy Mass at Gračina at 10 a.m., with the main entertainment program reserved for the evening. At the Doci Sports Center, starting at 8:30 p.m., the traditional Fishermen's Night will feature a rich offering of dishes, including roast veal on a spit, and the musical atmosphere will be provided by Giuliano and Diktatori, as well as Kristina Krstičević.
Solidarity with the People of Omiš
After the fire in the Omiš area destroyed homes for many families and claimed one life, the Municipality of Pojezerje decided to redirect part of the celebration into a solidarity campaign. Funds raised during the event, as well as donations collected on-site, will be forwarded to the affected families. This will be carried out in cooperation with the City of Omiš and the Civil Protection of the Split-Dalmatia County.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Pojezerje, Luka Antunović, emphasized the importance of showing unity in such situations.
"In these difficult times for Omiš and all the families who have lost their homes, it is important to show that we stand together and that we do not turn our backs on those who need help the most," Antunović said.
This year's St. Roch's Day will thus be remembered not only for its music and gastronomy, but also for the concrete help extended to neighbors who need it most at this moment.
