Barcelona officially confirmed the signing of Rodri Hernández, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, on Tuesday. The Catalan club marked the transfer with a special video, and according to El País, Manchester City will receive €60 million for the 30-year-old midfielder, with an additional €11 million possible through variables.
Rodri bids farewell to Manchester City after seven years, having joined in 2019 from Atlético Madrid. Under his leadership, Pep Guardiola elevated him into a key figure of the squad that dominated English football. His goal in the 2023 Champions League final against Inter remains memorable, as it brought City their first European title in the club's history.
Rodri also left a significant mark on the Spanish national team. He was among the standout players during the Euro 2024 triumph, and that same year, he received the Ballon d'Or. During the summer, as an important part of the Spanish squad, he helped secure the World Cup title and was also named the tournament's best player.
According to Barcelona, he is a midfielder who stands out for his game-reading ability, composure on the ball, ball recovery, and precise passing. Now, the 30-year-old returns to Spain, becoming one of Barcelona's biggest signings in recent times. According to El País, Rodri will be tied to the club until 2030, and his salary will be the second-highest in the squad, just behind Lamine Yamal.
While Barcelona celebrates a major signing, Croatian clubs are also active. According to Sportske novosti, Dennis Hadžikadunić has been presented at Hajduk, and Kiril Kravcov has signed a contract with Dinamo. Dinamo, according to insider information, also wants to bring in Emir Demir, whom Barcelona once bought for €2 million, and Lautaro Ultra, a midfielder from the second Uruguayan league. AC Milan has reached an agreement to bring in Diego Moreira, while Tottenham Hotspur is one step away from signing Savinho.
