Summary
  • The US carried out a powerful wave of airstrikes on dozens of Iranian Revolutionary Guard targets across Iran on July 30, 2026.
  • Targets included military command centers, missile and drone bases, and IRGC naval capabilities.
  • The operation is a response to attempted Iranian missile attacks on US forces on July 29.
  • Escalation in the Strait of Hormuz threatens global oil trade and may indirectly affect energy prices in Croatia.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces have carried out a new, powerful wave of airstrikes against Iran. In a statement on platform X, they said they had "successfully completed a powerful wave of strikes," targeting "dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets" across the country. The strikes began at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (00:00 GMT, or 2:00 a.m. Central European Time on July 30, 2026), according to the Russian agency TASS.

Scale of the operation

According to the same statement, US forces struck military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense positions, and IRGC naval capabilities. The Russian channel RVvoenkor, close to military sources, reported that the strikes hit targets in the Iran-Iraq border area, on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, and in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Bushehr in southern Iran.

Retaliation for attempted attack

The operation is a direct response to attempted missile attacks on US forces that, according to CENTCOM, occurred during July 29. "The strikes were aimed at further reducing the threats that Iran and its proxies pose to US forces, commercial shipping, and neighboring Gulf countries," the statement said. It was emphasized that the attacks continue with the goal of weakening the IRGC's capabilities.

The escalation of conflict in the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of global oil trade passes, could affect global energy prices. Although Croatia is not directly involved in the conflict, any disruption in oil supply indirectly impacts the domestic economy and citizens.
