The singer performed solo for the first time at the Pula Arena on Saturday, and on social media she revealed she felt like a debutante in a space that has always fascinated her.
Singer Severina Vučković held her first solo concert at the Pula Arena on Saturday evening, and after performing a three-and-a-half-hour spectacle before about ten thousand people, she took to social media and admitted she had immense stage fright.
"Last night at the Pula Arena, just before stepping onto the stage, I was so excited and so nervous. After all, last night I was a debutante in that beautiful structure that has always fascinated me. And then a flood of emotions followed. Maybe that's why I only have four photos of the costume, because I didn't even want to take photos, just soak in the beauty of that magical place," Severina wrote in her post, as reported by Tportal.
She also shared photos in a costume by fashion brand Zigman, which she arranged with stylist Katija Šimundić, and the performance as part of the "Ja samo pjevam" tour had been sold out a month in advance.
The concert began just after 9 PM, and from the first notes, Severina established a strong connection with the audience. During the performance of "Rođeno moje," dedicated to her son, she was visibly moved and shed a tear while photos of the boy growing up flashed on the large screen behind her. The audience applauded her support on multiple occasions.
In one of the most emotional moments, she also addressed politicians. "Croatia is loved through honesty, through the fight against corruption, and through all those things that those in power forget. But everyone has their own cross, and I have carried my stone, my cross. That's why I sing this song for all the youth of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, for the youth that fights," she said, which drew thunderous applause and whistles of support.
Particularly touching was the moment when she mentioned a mother in the audience who had written her a letter and revealed that her child had died of cancer at the age of 12. She directed applause of support to that mother, and the very next moment she lifted the energy with the song "Prijateljice."
An impressive musical lineup accompanied Severina throughout the performance. At certain moments, there were nearly 70 musicians on stage, including an orchestra with strings and trumpets, as well as 36 members of two Rijeka choirs, the Rijeka Chamber Choir Val and the Youth Choir "Josip Kaplan." She gave each of her musicians a chance to showcase their virtuosity for a few minutes.
The concert was also an opportunity for the premiere performance of the new song "Nisam kriva ja," and the audience, judging by their reactions, sang along at the top of their lungs. The repertoire also included numerous hits such as "Uzbuna," "Generale," "Uno Momento," "Tarapana," "Gas, gas," "Moja štikla," and "Dobrodošao u klub."
During the concert, a proposal took place in the audience right next to the stage, and Severina enthusiastically relayed that the girl said "yes." She dedicated the concert to Sven Dukić, who she said had been urging her for years to perform at the Arena, but unfortunately he did not live to see it.
She also recalled her first performance in this venue in 1993 as part of the "Sedma noć" program, when she premiered the song "Paloma Nera." For the very end, she saved "Bella Ciao," Alen Vitasović's hit "Jedu noć," and "Italiana," and bid farewell to the audience with the words: "Pula, don't forget me!"
As they left the Arena, the audience was still singing, and "Dobrodošao u klub" echoed along the streets around the amphitheater, confirming that this concert will not be forgotten anytime soon.
