Šibenik prepares for Thompson: 8,500 parking spaces, access to Šubićevac Stadium only on foot

The City of Šibenik, in cooperation with the organizer Infinite Show and city services, is finalizing extensive preparations for Marko Perković Thompson's concert at Šubićevac Stadium. At a press conference held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, representatives of the City, police, and fire department revealed plans to manage expected crowds and ensure the safety of all visitors.
According to Deputy Mayor of Šibenik and President of the Civil Protection Headquarters Danijel Mileta, approximately 8,500 parking spaces have been secured on the outskirts of the city. The key zone is Podi with about 4,500 spaces, followed by the former Bribirski knezovi barracks, the Impol TLM area, and Batižela (former TEF). "The largest parking lot is in the Podi zone with about 4,500 spaces, then in the former Bribirski knezovi barracks, the Impol TLM zone, and the Batižela area, i.e., the former TEF. The parking lots have been leveled, and certain works have been done, i.e., they have been marked so that cars can park as properly as possible," Mileta said for Šibenski kanal.
The organizer has rented 25 buses to transport visitors between the Podi parking lot and the city center, while from other parking lots, walking up to an hour to the stadium is expected. The municipal company Vodovod i odvodnja will install 13 public drinking fountains with free water near the parking lots and the stadium.
Temporary traffic regulation comes into effect as early as August 3, when Đure Đakovića Street will be blocked, and Bana Josipa Jelačića Street will also be controlled. From the morning hours of August 4, the Šubićevac area will be closed to all vehicles except residents, emergency services, and deliveries. Head of the Šibenik Traffic Police Station Joško Periša emphasized: "We will do our utmost all day to avoid traffic problems, but we hereby ask all concert attendees to follow police instructions at checkpoints to ensure the best possible traffic flow through the city."
Police will redirect visitors arriving by highway to the Podi parking lot, those from the western part of the county to the TEF area, and vehicles from the direction of Mandalina to the TLM and former barracks locations. Residents of Šibenik will be able to move around the city, except on certain streets that will be periodically closed due to increased pedestrian traffic. It is recommended that everyone coming to the concert arrive no later than 5 p.m. to avoid the biggest crowds. HAK will publish detailed information on all traffic routes on its website.
Commander of the Šibenik Fire Department Volimir Milošević warned that the peak of the heatwave is forecast for August 4, therefore increasing the risk of outdoor fires. Firefighting teams will be deployed to high-risk locations, and a reserve unit has been secured. The use of open flames and pyrotechnics is strictly prohibited. "Šibenik is extremely prone to outdoor fires, and any such use would be catastrophic," Milošević emphasized. He asked citizens to ensure access for fire vehicles and follow the instructions of emergency services in case of intervention.
Deputy Mayor Mileta emphasized the special significance of the event: "What I can still ask of our fellow citizens is to have patience, so this is not an ordinary concert, it is a concert taking place on the eve of Victory Day, Homeland Thanksgiving Day, and Croatian Veterans Day, a concert by Marko Perković Thompson, whose songs encouraged our warriors in the Homeland War and which has a certain symbolism on that date."
Representative of the company Infinite Show Mirko Gudelj announced that stadium entrances will open at 6 p.m., and the concert starts at 9 p.m. It will last 2 hours and 50 minutes, and organizers expect that crowds after the concert will be cleared within two hours. Buses will run to the Podi zone until the last visitor reaches their vehicle.
Meanwhile, a tribute to Oliver Dragojević was held in Novi Vinodolski, HRT reported.
