Šibenik is in the final stages of organizing a major concert by Marko Perković Thompson, to be held at the Šubićevac Stadium. At a press conference held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, representatives from the City, police, and fire department presented details about preparations for the expected large number of visitors.
Deputy Mayor of Šibenik Danijel Mileta, who also serves as head of the Civil Protection Headquarters, confirmed that around 8,500 parking spaces have been secured on the outskirts of the city. The largest concentration is at Podi with about 4,500 spaces, with additional spaces at the former Bribirski Knezovi barracks, the Impol TLM area, and at Batižela (former TEF). "The largest parking lot is in the Podi zone with about 4,500 spaces, followed by the former Bribirski Knezovi barracks, the Impol TLM zone, and the Batižela area, i.e., the former TEF. The lots have been leveled, and certain works have already been done, and they are marked so that cars can park as properly as possible," Mileta said for Šibenski kanal.
The organizer has provided 25 buses for transport from Podi to the city center, while visitors from other locations will walk up to an hour. The city utility company Vodovod i odvodnja will install 13 public drinking fountains with free water near the parking lots and the stadium.
Temporary traffic regulation begins on August 3, with the closure of Đure Đakovića Street and control of Bana Josipa Jelačića Street. From the morning hours of August 4, Šubićevac will be closed to all traffic except for residents, emergency services, and deliveries. Head of Šibenik Traffic Police Joško Periša emphasized: "We will do our utmost all day to avoid traffic problems, but we ask all concertgoers to follow police instructions at checkpoints to ensure the best possible flow through the city."
Police will direct vehicles from the highway to Podi, from the west to TEF, and from the direction of Mandalina to TLM and the former barracks. Šibenik residents will be able to move around the city, with occasional closures of certain streets. It is recommended that visitors arrive no later than 5 PM. HAK will publish detailed information on traffic routes.
Commander of the Šibenik Public Fire Brigade Volimir Milošević warned of the peak of the heatwave on August 4 and an increased risk of fire. Firefighting teams will be stationed at high-risk locations, and the use of open flames and pyrotechnics is prohibited. "Šibenik is extremely prone to wildfires, and any such use would be catastrophic," Milošević stressed. He asked citizens to ensure access for fire trucks and to follow emergency services' instructions.
Danijel Mileta highlighted the special significance of the concert: "What I can also ask of our fellow citizens is to be patient; this is not an ordinary concert. This is a concert taking place on the eve of Victory Day, Homeland Thanksgiving Day, and Croatian Veterans Day, featuring Marko Perković Thompson, whose songs encouraged our warriors during the Homeland War and who carries a certain symbolism on that date."
Mirko Gudelj from Infinite Show announced that gates will open at 6 PM, and the concert begins at 9 PM. It will last 2 hours and 50 minutes, and organizers expect that crowds after the concert will disperse within two hours. Buses will run to the Podi zone until the last visitor reaches their vehicle.
Meanwhile, Novi Vinodolski is also preparing for a tribute to Oliver.
