The story of a brutal attack and robbery of a minor in Zagreb's Trnje neighborhood, which alarmed the public on Monday, has taken an entirely unexpected turn. On Tuesday, Zagreb police announced that the criminal investigation did not confirm the boy's claims but instead revealed a completely different sequence of events.
After receiving the report, officers visited the scene on Starotrnjanska Street, conducted interviews, and checked all the circumstances. They determined that there were no elements of a criminal offense against the minor. Instead, they reconstructed that the boy had fallen from his scooter and sustained serious bodily injuries in the process.
"Namely, it was established that the minor fell from his scooter and was seriously injured in the fall, and at the time of the accident, he became frightened, so out of fear and concern of judgment, he incorrectly reported that his scooter had been stolen," Zagreb police stated.
To recall, the boy initially claimed that on Sunday, August 9, at around 1:20 PM, he was attacked on Starotrnjanska Street by two unknown younger perpetrators who stole his scooter. He then sought medical help at the Zagreb Children's Hospital, where on-duty doctors confirmed serious injuries and notified the police.
Although the initial information raised concerns about safety on city streets, a thorough check of all claims resulted in a complete reversal in the case. The police took no further action against the minor, who had fabricated the entire story.
