Today, a reception was held at the Solin city administration for Toma Tadić, an 18-year-old from Solin who returned from the European Under-23 Shooting Championships with two individual medals. The young member of the Dalmacijacement Shooting Society won bronze in air rifle and silver in the 50-meter three-position small-bore rifle event in Poland, confirming his status as one of the most promising young Croatian shooters.
Mayor: 'This achievement is even greater because Toma is 18 years old'
Solin Mayor Dalibor Ninčević emphasized that the success is even more significant because Tadić competed in the under-23 category, despite being four years younger than the upper age limit. "Personally, and for the City, this means a lot. I must say that the Dalmacijacement Shooting Club has accustomed us to results like these and similar ones," Ninčević said, adding that the immediate occasion for the reception was the exceptional success of the club member, crowned with a bronze and a silver medal.
The mayor also highlighted the consistency of Tadić's results. "Last year, he won gold at the Youth Games in Skopje, and at the recent Croatian Championship, he also won two gold medals," Ninčević said, adding that Tadić is part of a club whose members also include national team representatives Petar Gorša, Josip Sikavica, Marta Zeljković, and Anna Ćukušić.
The club's treasury now holds 148 medals
In addition to the reception, the City of Solin awarded Tadić, his coach Siniša Vitez, and the shooting society a financial prize for the outstanding result. Ninčević also announced that funds have been secured in the budget for the improvement of the sports infrastructure of the Dalmacijacement Shooting Society. "As mayor, I am proud, and in the near future, we will build and upgrade the shooting club's facilities so that there will be more Tomas," he said.
With the two new medals, the treasury of the Dalmacijacement Shooting Society now holds a total of 148 medals, making it, according to Ninčević, the most successful club in Croatia in terms of medals won. At the reception, Tadić was accompanied by Siniša Vitez, director and coach of the Dalmacijacement Shooting Society and head coach of the Croatian shooting team.
Tadić: 'I am proud that the effort paid off'
The young athlete did not hide his satisfaction with what he achieved. "I am proud of the result and that my effort paid off, that it wasn't in vain," Tadić said briefly, adding that such a result requires a lot of confidence, composure, and precision because shooting is a sport "played in the head."
Alongside his school obligations, which this year include enrolling in the Faculty of Maritime Studies, Tadić trains five to six times a week for three hours each session, a pace that has brought him to the European podium.
