August 8 brought excellent news for Croatian football figures across Europe. While coach Željko Sopić led Kauno Žalgiris to a crucial victory and the top position in Lithuania, GNK Dinamo advanced to the final of the Ramljak26 tournament and introduced Noah Nsoki as a new signing from Paris Saint-Germain.
In the 26th round of the Lithuanian top flight, Kauno Žalgiris defeated Hegelmann 2:0 at home. Leo Ribeiro and Motiejus Burba scored for the Croatian coach's side, finding the net in the first half.
With this victory, Kauno Žalgiris took over the top spot in the standings with 37 points. Sopić's team now holds a two-point lead over second-placed Transinvest, but has played one more match. The situation at the top is extremely tight, as many as six clubs are within just four points of each other.
On Tuesday, Sopić and his players face a return match against Dinamo. However, this fixture is expected to be of a friendly nature, given that the Zagreb club built an insurmountable lead in the first leg. After being eliminated by Dinamo, Kauno Žalgiris will continue their European journey in the Europa League playoffs, where they face Turkish giants Beşiktaş. Dinamo, meanwhile, will take on Norwegian side Viking in the Champions League playoffs.
On the other hand, GNK Dinamo secured a spot in the final of the Ramljak26 tournament with a big win over Benfica, topping Group A. The decisive match against Ajax is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, at 6:30 PM at the main pitch of Maksimir Stadium. Admission for all fans is free.
Ahead of the final, the club also announced the arrival of Noah Nsoki. "Noah Nsoki! Paris Saint-Germain ➡️ GNK Dinamo," reads the post on the club's official Twitter profile.
