On July 21, 2026, a Spanish national (32) landed at Zagreb Airport carrying a suitcase that, instead of the usual travel items, contained nearly 15 kilograms of marijuana. As reported by Jutarnji list and Index, customs and police officers immediately singled her out from regular passenger control and found a total of 14,920 grams of cannabis.
The Municipal State Attorney's Office in Velika Gorica launched an investigation against the 32-year-old for unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs, the State Attorney's Office (DORH) announced. The prosecution suspects that the drug was intended for further resale on the illegal narcotics market. The suspect was interrogated, after which pre-trial detention was proposed.
The investigating judge of the County Court in Velika Gorica accepted the prosecution's proposal and ordered pre-trial detention for the accused. The reasons cited were the risk of flight and the possibility of repeating the criminal offense. The Spanish woman will await the further course of proceedings behind bars, confirmed by the state attorney's office.
