Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially crossed $2 billion at the global box office, marking the first time the wall-crawling Marvel hero has reached this cinematic milestone. The film premiered on July 31, 2026, and broke the $2 billion mark on August 16, 2026, just over three weeks after its release.
According to data reported by IGN, the exact total earnings stand at $2.022 billion, with $785 million generated in North America and $1.23 billion from international markets. Deadline notes that the film has become the second-fastest to cross this threshold, achieving the feat in 17 days, just behind Avengers: Endgame.
This achievement makes Brand New Day the eighth film in history to surpass $2 billion. Others in this club include James Cameron's Avatar and its sequel, Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens, Ne Zha 2, and two Marvel films from the Avengers franchise.
The previous Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland, Spider-Man: No Way Home from 2021, stopped at $1.9 billion, while Spider-Man: Far From Home reached $1.13 billion. Films starring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield failed to cross the $1 billion mark in their individual releases.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the film grossed $70 million in North America during its third weekend, alongside the premieres of 'The End of Oak Street' and 'PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie'. This result further solidified the film's position as Sony's biggest release of all time.
IGN gave the film a rating of 7/10, describing it as a movie that "effectively refocuses on the web-slinger's most reliable pillars: grappling with inner turmoil, swinging through New York to save the day, and looking cool while doing it."
Although the film has already achieved historic success, the question remains where it will land on the all-time highest-grossing films chart. The film is still the second-fastest to cross $2 billion, and it is expected to remain in theaters for some time.
The film was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with Tom Holland starring as Peter Parker. With strong audience and critical reception, as well as major twists largely omitted from trailers, the film had plenty to offer viewers.
