New footage from the intersection where three major city roads meet shows how reckless driver behavior continues to threaten safety at one of Split's most critical points.
The intersection at Krom, where Domovinskog rata Street, Slobode Street, and Hrvatske mornarice Street converge, has once again confirmed its infamous status as Split's 'Bermuda Triangle.' On the Facebook page Prometne zgode i nezgode, a new video surfaced on Saturday, August 9, 2026, showing a dramatic right-of-way violation, with a serious collision narrowly avoided by sheer luck.
This crossing, one of the main arteries for entering the city center, absorbs tens of thousands of vehicles daily and regularly tops police reports for the number of traffic accidents. The combination of high traffic density and irresponsible driver maneuvers makes it exceptionally dangerous.
The footage shows a motorcyclist, instead of yielding to vehicles maintaining their lane, suddenly swerving left and violating their right of way. His path cuts across two traffic lanes, forcing other road users to react abruptly to avoid a crash.
Commenters on the aforementioned Facebook page analyzed the situation in detail. They pointed out that the intersection is signal-controlled and that, according to left-turn rules, vehicles going straight or turning right have the right of way. "In this case, the motorcyclist turning left cuts across the path of vehicles maintaining their direction, effectively taking away their right of way," they explained.
They added that the scooter in the left lane easily avoided the motorcyclist, as did the green vehicle in the right lane. However, the most critical moment involved a white taxi. "The white taxi in that same right lane brakes after moving off (you can clearly see its front end dip) and then continues, assuming the motorcyclist had stopped in the left lane. Because of this, the cameraman, who was in the left lane, had to go around it," they described the events from the video.
This video is just the latest in a series of evidence that carelessness at this intersection is a constant. Although some turning directions were recently eliminated to improve safety, it seems that the awareness of certain drivers is still not at the required level. The incident went without a reported accident, but it served as yet another serious warning to all who daily pass through this vital traffic artery of Split.
