Following Gabriel Vidović's departure, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been handed one of the most recognizable numbers in the club's history, just ahead of a crucial Champions League clash.
Luka Stojković will soon wear one of the most famous numbers at GNK Dinamo. After Gabriel Vidović's departure, the vacant number 10 shirt will go to the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who established himself as one of the key players for the Zagreb side last season, as reported by Večernji list on Monday, August 17, 2026.
The decision is all but confirmed ahead of the first Champions League playoff match against Viking, and Stojković has long been the obvious choice for that number. His playing style, position, and growing role in the attack naturally place him among the players who deserve such responsibility.
Last season was particularly successful for the young midfielder. In 42 appearances across all competitions, he scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists. In the SHNL, he was even more effective, with 7 goals and 12 assists in 29 matches.
He also stepped up in crucial moments. Against Genk in Europe, he delivered one of his best performances for Dinamo, scoring twice in the return leg and almost single-handedly taking the match to extra time. He was also pivotal in securing domestic trophies.
Stojković has also started the new season well. In the league, he assisted against Slaven Belupo, and against Kauno Žalgiris, he was involved in almost everything important, scoring a goal and providing an assist in a convincing 5-0 victory.
Dinamo will host Norwegian side Viking at Maksimir on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 9 PM, in the first leg of the Champions League playoff. The club has called on fans via its official Twitter account: "Tomorrow, all as one, from the pitch to the stands!" Tickets for members cost €12, while for other fans they are €17.
The return leg is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, also at 9 PM, at the Viking Stadion in Stavanger on the North Sea coast. Away tickets for Croatian fans are on sale at 249 Norwegian kroner, approximately €22, and Dinamo has said: "We'll go everywhere with Dinamo!"
Ahead of the match, former player Zvone Boban sent an emotional message on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the BBB's founding. "To you, without whom nothing is the same - for 40 years, nothing has been the same! To you, who have never stopped loving and living in blue - not for a second of life, not for a second of any match. To you, because of whom we have the Dinamo we have dreamed of for years. In tradition, in rebellion - always your own, forever Dinamo's!" Boban said.
Along with the emotional text, Boban added the traditional greeting: "Happy Birthday Purgeri! Happy Birthday BBB group! Dinamo Zagreb above all, Dinamo Zagreb above everyone!" The photo was credited to Luka Stanzl/GNK Dinamo.
