Summary
  • The Split Student Center has announced conditions for September stay: €100 deposit, €11 daily accommodation, application deadline August 31.
  • The Varaždin Student Center has published preliminary results: 811 students received dorm places, and subsidies for private housing were approved in Čakovec, Koprivnica, and Križevci.
  • Appeals against the preliminary results in Varaždin can be filed until August 20, and the number of freshmen in dorms is limited to 30 percent of the quota.

The Split Student Center has come out with concrete figures for September 2026, a day in the dorm will cost €11, and those who already have a valid contract will have to pay a €100 deposit before arriving. Students without a contract, on the other hand, only get in if they provide proof of status with clearly indicated exam dates.

August Only If Space Remains

The same condition, proof with exam dates, applies to any potential stay during August, but that all depends on currently available capacity. Applications are submitted via a form, and the deadline for all those aiming for September is August 31, 2026.

Priority for accommodation, therefore, goes to those who have already earned that right in the previous academic year, the logic is clear: extending an existing contract comes before new requests.

Varaždin: 811 Beds and Preliminary Lists

While Split is cutting deadlines, the Student Center in Varaždin has published the preliminary results of the competition for subsidized housing in 2026/2027. A total of 811 students have secured the right to accommodation in this center's student dorms. Subsidies for housing with private landlords were awarded to 23 students in Čakovec, 27 in Koprivnica, and one student in Križevci.

In Varaždin itself, subsidies are also planned for 50 students who did not manage to get a place in the dorm and listed a private landlord as their second priority, in other words, even those who fell below the line have a backup option, provided they indicated it in time.

Appeals Only on Points, Not on Documents

Students who believe there was an error in the scoring can file an appeal, exclusively by registered mail, with a deadline expiring on August 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. A key limitation: an appeal is not an opportunity to submit additional documentation; it serves only to correct any potential errors in the scoring of already submitted papers.

The final ranking list will be announced no later than eight days after the appeal deadline, so, right at the end of August. A special rule applies to freshmen: the number of students enrolling in their first year of study for the first time is limited to 30 percent of the approved quota for dorm accommodation. Since the results are still preliminary, the final order could change after all appeals are resolved, meaning that even those 811 places in Varaždin are not yet set in stone.
