Football fans in Velika Gorica are in for a real mini-marathon of SuperSport HNL action this Saturday. At the City Stadium in Velika Gorica, Rudeš and Osijek will first face off, and just a few hours later, at 9 PM, Gorica themselves take the field at Maksimir against Lokomotiva.
NK Rudeš, who returned to the top flight this season, plays their home matches in Velika Gorica. The reason is simple: Maksimir is home to Dinamo and Lokomotiva, Kranjčevićeva is under construction, and in Zaprešić, Inker and Dinamo II already have their place. This made the City Stadium in Velika Gorica the logical choice for the "tenants."
Club president Joe Šimunić issued a clear invitation to the local community. "We invite all citizens of Velika Gorica to the match against Osijek. See you at the City Stadium!" Šimunić said. The match starts at 6:30 PM.
Rudeš coach Alen Peternac is aware of the challenge, but also the opportunity at hand. He reflected on the first round and announced a fight for the first point or all three.
"In Rijeka, we showed that we can be equal to a quality opponent. We took a lot of positives from the match, but we also clearly saw where we need to improve. Against Osijek, we want to take a step forward. We play in front of our fans, and we want to show the energy, aggression, and courage that must define Rudeš in every match. We respect Osijek, but we primarily focus on ourselves. If we perform at the level we are capable of, I believe we can get our first points," Peternac stated.
For those who want to watch the Rudeš vs. Osijek clash live, tickets for sectors A1 and B1 will be sold at €15. For all other sectors, the price is €10.
After the match in Velika Gorica concludes, the focus shifts to Maksimir. There, at 9 PM, the true Gorica representative, HNK Gorica, will play their first away match of the season against Lokomotiva. This schedule means that Velika Gorica fans, if they wish, can watch two top-tier Croatian football matches in a single day.
