On Sunday evening, a physical altercation broke out among minors at the tennis courts in Valpovo, which, according to witnesses, escalated to an attempted knife attack. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM and was first reported by the portal Valpovština.info, after which the Osijek-Baranja Police Department confirmed the information.
According to unofficial information reported by SiB and Hrvatska uživo, a 15-year-old minor physically assaulted another boy, allegedly striking him several times with his fist to the head and legs. When the conflict escalated, the attacker reportedly pulled out a knife.
Another boy came to the aid of the attacked minor and, according to witnesses, managed to knock the knife out of the attacker's hand and hold him until police arrived. Upon arriving at the scene, police, as unofficially learned, contacted the parents of both boys. The weapon the attacker had on him was shown to one of the parents, who stated it did not belong to his child.
The Osijek-Baranja Police Department confirmed that they received a report of violence among minors and are conducting an investigation. Due to the protection of children and the confidentiality of the proceedings, police are not disclosing details of the incident. They state that after every report of violence among children and youth, an investigation is immediately launched to determine the causes, circumstances, and consequences of the event.
The details of the criminal investigation are confidential, among other things, to prevent further traumatization of the minors. Police emphasize that in situations of violence among youth, they respond promptly and coordinate with other institutions dealing with the protection of minors, whether they are victims or perpetrators.
Some witnesses claim that the behavior of the 15-year-old had not gone unnoticed before. There are circulating claims in public about his involvement in previous incidents, but this information has not yet been officially confirmed. Given the public interest and the legal duty to protect the privacy and safety of children, police are currently unable to disclose more details about this case.
