Users of Apple devices in several countries around the world were met with an unusual problem this morning. The Telegram app, one of the most popular messaging platforms, simply disappeared from the App Store. According to TASS correspondents, the app can no longer be downloaded in at least Russian, Turkish, and American digital stores.
The issue arose on Monday, August 4, 2026, and appears to be global in nature. Although Telegram has vanished from the App Store in multiple markets, the app continues to function normally on devices of users who have already installed it. The situation is currently much more favorable for Android users, as Telegram remains available for download on the Google Play Store and the Russian RuStore.
Shortly after the disappearance, contradictory information emerged about whether the app had been restored. Telegram's channel WarFront Witness posted a brief message: "Telegram is back on the App Store." However, the specialized portal Android Authority reports that, despite the company's claims that the app has been restored, it is still not visible in the App Store. The reasons for this sudden removal remain a complete mystery, and no official explanation has come from Telegram.
Amid the uncertainty, the Telegram channel AMK Mapping issued a simple but clear warning to Apple device owners: "Apple users, whatever you do, do not update your Telegram app." This advice suggests that attempting an update in the current situation could lead to difficulties or complete loss of access to the app.
This incident serves as a reminder of the potential vulnerability of popular apps on Apple's platform, where users are entirely dependent on the rules and availability of the App Store. Until the situation is clarified, users are advised to exercise caution and avoid any changes to their existing Telegram installation.
