Two young men were rushed to the Dr. Anđelko Višić General Hospital in Bjelovar after their car veered off the road and struck an access bridge, a concrete pillar, and a fence foundation.
On Tuesday evening, August 11, 2026, at approximately 8:10 PM, a serious traffic accident occurred in the town of Kaniška Iva, injuring two young men. According to the Bjelovar-Bilogora Police Department, the 24-year-old driver and his 21-year-old passenger were transported to the hospital in Bjelovar.
The accident happened when the 24-year-old, driving a passenger car on the road from Međurić toward Garešnica, entered a right curve. He failed to adjust his speed to the road's characteristics and current conditions, causing his right wheels to run onto the shoulder.
Subsequently, the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and ended up in a roadside drainage ditch. The car continued out of control, first striking an access bridge, then spinning and hitting a concrete pillar and a fence foundation. Finally, it came to a stop next to a roadside ditch.
In the accident, the driver and his passenger were seriously injured. Both were taken by emergency medical vehicle to the Dr. Anđelko Višić General Hospital in Bjelovar, where they received medical care.
In addition to the injuries, the car and the structures it struck sustained property damage. The Bjelovar-Bilogora Police Department is continuing to determine all the circumstances that led to this traffic accident.
