Serious Accident in Zaton, Traffic Jams on A3: HAK Warns Drivers

The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) in its morning report from Thursday, August 13, 2026, warns drivers of a series of difficulties on the roads. The most serious situation is on state road DC8 in the town of Zaton, where traffic is moving under temporary regulation due to a serious traffic accident.
On the A1 motorway towards Zagreb, two separate incidents have been recorded. At km 112+000, between the Brinje and Ogulin interchanges, an animal (dog) was spotted on the carriageway, resulting in a speed limit of 40 km/h. Further south, at km 331+000 between the Danilo and Podi interchanges, a traffic accident occurred. There, traffic is moving in one lane, also with a speed limit of 40 km/h.
In the Mala Kapela tunnel, towards Dubrovnik, a broken-down vehicle is located in the lay-by. Drivers on that section must drive at a speed limit of 60 km/h.
Due to roadworks, traffic on the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway is moving only in the driving lane on two sections. Towards Macelj, on the Krapina, Đurmanec section from km 17+500 to 13+750, and towards Zagreb, on the Trakošćan, Đurmanec section from km 6+700 to 8+200.
On the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway, until September 1, drainage rehabilitation is underway on the section from the Popovača interchange to the Kutina interchange towards Lipovac (from km 90+700 to 93+800). Traffic there is moving in two narrowed lanes. Until October 3, another major roadworks will be in progress on the A3 motorway, on the section from Sveta Nedelja to Zagreb zapad, specifically from km 12+480 to 15+300. The carriageway towards Lipovac is closed, and traffic is moving in both directions on the carriageway towards Bregana, with two narrowed lanes in each direction. HAK warns that on these sections, along with increased traffic density, delays and queues are possible, especially in the morning and afternoon hours and on weekends.
Due to the bura wind on the Adriatic, HAK announces possible restrictions for certain vehicle groups, especially on sections of the Adriatic Highway in the Velebit foothills area. Due to stormy winds, difficulties in maritime traffic are also possible.
During the morning and afternoon, slower traffic is expected on city roads and bypasses. Delays and queues are particularly expected on the Zagreb (A3) and Rijeka (A7) bypasses, on the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway near the Zagreb zapad interchange, and on the A3 between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges.
Towards the coast, denser traffic is expected, and occasional slowdowns are possible in tunnels, at rest areas, at toll stations, and on roads leading to tourist destinations. At some border crossings, longer waits are possible, both for passenger vehicles and trucks.
HAK advises drivers to maintain a sufficient distance between vehicles and, if a standstill occurs, to create a passage for emergency vehicles.
