Two serious traffic accidents occurred on the roads of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in which three people were injured, the police reported. In both cases, foreign nationals were involved, and the police once again appealed to drivers to exercise increased caution.
The first accident happened ten minutes after midnight in the Mali Lošinj area. According to police data, a 21-year-old motorcyclist with Italian plates was traveling from Mali Lošinj toward Osor.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a protective helmet and failed to adjust his speed to the characteristics and condition of the road. As a result, he lost control, veered off the road, hit low shrubs and a tree with his front wheel, and then fell to the ground. He sustained severe injuries in the accident.
The second accident occurred around 11:25 AM in the Kraljevica area. At an intersection, a 43-year-old Croatian citizen, driving a passenger vehicle with Rijeka plates, hit a motor tricycle with Slovenian plates with the front of his vehicle while turning right.
The tricycle was driven by a 44-year-old Slovenian man who was overtaking another vehicle across a solid line at that moment. A 34-year-old Slovenian woman was a passenger on the tricycle. Both the tricycle driver and the passenger were seriously injured.
All injured individuals were transported for medical assistance, where they were diagnosed with severe injuries.
Following this incident, the police once again appealed to all road users, especially motorcyclists and drivers of other two- or three-wheeled vehicles, to be more cautious, use the prescribed protective equipment, adjust their speed to road conditions, and fully comply with traffic rules and regulations.
