Police have released reports on at least three traffic accidents that occurred this weekend on the roads, in which several young people were seriously injured. The most severe accident was recorded in Ilok, where a 19-year-old woman sustained serious injuries when her quad bike overturned.
According to police information, the accident in Ilok occurred on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at approximately 6:20 PM. The driver of the quad bike, bearing Karlovac license plates, aged 19, lost control and overturned at an intersection due to excessive speed and the road's incline while turning. She fell and sustained serious bodily injuries.
On Sunday, August 16, around 6:25 PM, another accident occurred on the county road between Antin and Markušica. The car, with Vinkovci markings, was driven by an 18-year-old woman and carried two female passengers: one aged 17 and one aged 18. While turning right, because she was driving too fast, she veered off the road and hit the sloped section of a drainage ditch. The 18-year-old passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries.
Later that same day, around 6:30 PM, in Rokovci, a 21-year-old man entered traffic without yielding to all vehicles moving along the roadway. This resulted in a side collision with a passenger car bearing Vinkovci license plates, driven by a 30-year-old man. In the vehicle driven by the 21-year-old, a 25-year-old woman sustained minor injuries.
The police released this information to highlight the consequences of inappropriate speed and failure to use seatbelts, which were key factors in these accidents.
