Summary
  • Tesla is introducing the Grok AI assistant in Croatia as part of a free summer software update.
  • Grok enables hands-free voice control of navigation, media, climate, and phone, with a range of personalized voice personalities.
  • FSD Supervised has proven 5.2 times safer than manual driving, and Eric Berger recommends it to his 80-year-old father for safer mobility.
  • All conversations with Grok are anonymous and not linked to the vehicle, protecting owner privacy.

According to a report by Bug.hr, Tesla began rolling out the advanced Grok AI assistant to its vehicles on the Croatian market a few days ago. This is part of the summer software update that is delivered wirelessly and free of charge to all cars meeting the necessary hardware requirements.

Integrated Assistant with a Range of Functions

Grok is an artificial intelligence developed by xAI, designed to provide accurate and informative answers across a wide range of fields-from physics and mathematics to philosophy and history. Integrated into Tesla vehicles' central system, it allows the driver to control navigation hands-free (set destinations, adjust routes), make phone calls, search for music and podcasts, and adjust the climate control. Additionally, it is connected to the vehicle's owner's manual, so it can offer maintenance tips, explain dashboard warnings, or provide best practices for using the car.

The assistant is activated via a button on the steering wheel or through the touchscreen, and offers different voice "personalities": cheerful Ara, gentle Eve, British Leo, calm Rex, and polished Sal. Besides the standard mode, there are also modes such as language teacher, storyteller, therapist, children's games, and even NSFW modes for adult users. Grok is currently available on Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y with an active Premium Connectivity subscription or a stable Wi-Fi connection. Conversations are anonymous and not stored by Tesla.

FSD Supervised Helps Senior Drivers

Alongside the introduction of Grok, new safety data for Tesla's FSD Supervised autonomous driving system has been released. As posted on Twitter by the Tesla profile for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, "In the last 4 months, FSD Supervised has proven to be more than 5.2 times safer than manual driving-over 65 million kilometers driven across 5 EU countries."

This statistic is accompanied by the personal experience of Eric Berger, shared on Tesla's official Twitter profile. "Driving almost exclusively with FSD, without a single incident, and the feeling is extraordinary. I told my father, who will soon turn 80, that his next car must have this driving and navigation technology," wrote Berger. This confirms that advanced driver assistance systems can extend the mobile independence of seniors, as highlighted by a brief message on the same profile: "Safer mobility for senior citizens."

Bug.hr reports that Tesla will continue to further integrate Grok and other features through free over-the-air (OTA) updates, further enhancing the driving experience over time.
