Over the past few days, Croatian roads have been the scene of a series of serious traffic violations. In the last 24 hours, 29 traffic accidents occurred in the Split-Dalmatia County, injuring 13 people, two of whom sustained severe injuries. Meanwhile, in the area overseen by the Donji Miholjac Police Station, 52 traffic offenses were recorded between August 5 and 12, 2026, as reported by Miholjština info.
Police officers from the Split Police Station stopped a car driven by a 53-year-old woman on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 2:48 PM on Bruna Bušića Street. After a breathalyzer test showed 2.07 promille of alcohol in her blood, the driver was arrested and taken to the police station.
A check revealed that she was a repeat traffic offender. She had already been penalized in July 2025 for drunk driving, and in March 2026, she was involved in an accident where someone was injured. The police requested a 60-day jail sentence, a fine of 190 euros, and an 18-month driving ban for category B vehicles. The court ordered 15 days of detention, after which she was sent to prison.
On the same day, shortly before 11 PM, traffic police stopped a car on Dračevac Street in Split. The driver was traveling at 137 km/h in a built-up area where the limit was 60 km/h-77 km/h over the limit. Further checks revealed that he was driving despite having his license revoked, with a measure in effect from July 20, 2026, to July 20, 2028.
He is a repeat offender of similar violations, having been convicted three times before. He was arrested, and his car was temporarily seized. The police requested his detention, a total of 60 days in prison, and the permanent confiscation of the vehicle. The court ordered six days of detention, after which he was transferred to prison.
A third case was recorded the same evening around 11:20 PM at the Rašćane Gornje rest area along the A1 motorway. Police stopped a 36-year-old man on a motorcycle and found that he was driving before he had regained the right to drive. His license had been revoked in October 2022 after accumulating 12 negative points.
The man refused a preliminary drug test and also did not have his driver's license or ID card. The police proposed detention, a fine of 1,370 euros, and 30 days in prison. The court released him, and the case has been forwarded for regular proceedings.
In the area overseen by the Donji Miholjac Police Station, between August 5 and 12, 2026, there were three traffic accidents with material damage and three road traffic incidents. A total of 52 traffic offenses were confirmed, of which 19 were for speeding, two for drunk driving, and one for refusing a drug test.
In addition to traffic violations, police officers recorded one open-space fire, one violation of the Public Order and Peace Act, one violation of the Domestic Violence Protection Act, and one criminal offense of damaging another's property, as reported by Miholjština info.
For August 18, 2026, from 9 AM to 3 PM, enhanced six-hour measures are planned in the station's area, targeting violations related to failing to yield right of way between vehicles, between vehicles and pedestrians, and pedestrian violations.
In addition to traffic incidents, in the last 24 hours, the Split-Dalmatia police recorded three threats, two cases of property damage, one computer fraud, one aggravated theft, and three petty thefts.
