Eighteen-year-old shooter Toma Tadić of Dalmacijacement continues to shine at the U23 European Championship in Wroclaw. After clinching bronze in the air rifle event on the first day of competition, he added silver in the three-position small-bore rifle on Saturday. Croatian shooting celebrated a double triumph as Darko Tomašević also took bronze in the same event.
After qualifying rounds where Tomašević dominated with an impressive 589 points, it was Tadić who took center stage in the final. He had qualified only sixth with 582 points, behind Sweden's Victor Lindgren and Jesper Johansson, Poland's Wiktor Sajdak, and Austria's Johannes Kuen, who finished fifth with 584 points.
However, in the final of the top eight, Tadić showed his character and staged a remarkable comeback. He shot with precision and fought his way into contention for the top prize. In the end, Poland's Wiktor Sajdak took the gold with 355.0 points, while Tadić secured silver with 353.9 points.
Darko Tomašević, who topped the qualifying standings with those 589 points, outperformed Sweden's Victor Lindgren in the final and claimed bronze with 343.5 points. This rounded off an exceptional day for Croatian shooting at the Polish competition.
For Tadić, the young shooter from Solin, this is his second medal of the championship and further proof of his enormous talent in two Olympic disciplines.
