A massive artificial intelligence data center, valued at a staggering €50 billion, is planned for Topusko. Named "Pantheon," this ambitious venture is slated to begin construction as early as next year, with initial operations expected in early 2029, as reported by XPress.hr.

The project is being developed by Croatian entrepreneur Jako Andabak in collaboration with American institutional investors and strategic partner Končar Group. From the outset, Pantheon has been conceived as a comprehensive solution integrating technological, energy, water, transport, and optical infrastructure.

Energy Independence as a Key Prerequisite

For a system with one gigawatt of power, the challenge is no longer just physically housing servers, but also ensuring a stable energy supply, efficient cooling, and long-term grid reliability. This is precisely why the project includes a series of parallel infrastructure undertakings.

In addition to the AI development and data center itself, plans include the construction of its own substation and 280 kilometers of new transmission lines. The center's strategic partner will also build a 500-megawatt photovoltaic power plant dedicated exclusively to Pantheon's needs. The idea is for the project not to place additional strain on the existing power grid, but rather to be part of a broader investment in the network and new capacities.

Thousands of New Jobs and a Promise of Stable Prices

This colossal project is expected to generate a significant number of jobs. During the construction phase, over 3,000 jobs are anticipated. Once completed and operational, the center will provide 1,500 permanent positions, while indirectly supporting the creation of an additional 6,000 jobs.

Investors assure the public that electricity prices will not rise as a result of this project. As for water supply, the center will rely on its own wells and will not be connected to existing water or sewage systems. Water used for cooling will evaporate, meaning its chemical composition will remain unchanged.
