Spanish international and World Cup final hero Ferran Torres is on the verge of a transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain. According to Spanish outlet Marca, as reported by Telegram.hr and Index.hr, the clubs are in the final stages of negotiations, and the deal could be officially confirmed within the next few days.
Torres has fully agreed personal terms with PSG and is expected to sign a four-year contract. Negotiations between the clubs are being led by sporting directors Deco on the Catalan side and Luis Campos on the Parisian side, and their personal friendship has significantly facilitated communication. The player's agents have already informed Barcelona's leadership of his explicit desire to move to Paris.
PSG will pay Barcelona around €50 million for Torres. The exact fixed amount and variable bonuses to be included in the contract are currently being defined. Sources close to the negotiations claim that the official announcement of the deal is very close.
PSG's interest in Torres is not new. The idea of the transfer originated during the World Cup, and the player himself hinted at such an outcome in a recent interview in the United States. "I have a contract with Barcelona, but... In football, you never know. I'm waiting to make the right decision; I still don't know everything," Torres said. He also sent a clear message to the club's management, which has not offered him a contract extension: "They have to show they want him." Barcelona coach Hansi Flick briefly responded to journalists' questions about the situation: "We'll see what happens."
Barcelona's management initially scheduled a meeting with Torres for next Wednesday, August 12, 2026, when Spanish internationals must report for training. However, that meeting is now considered unnecessary. The goal of all parties involved is to finalize the transfer before that date so that the striker does not have to return to training in Catalonia at all, but instead would travel directly to Paris for medical examinations and contract signing.
