An extensive investigation was conducted in Dubrovnik against three women from Bulgaria, aged 23, 25, and 27. They are suspected of exploiting crowds in the old town and the wider city center during July 2026 to extract wallets containing cash, documents, and bank cards from tourists' bags and backpacks. According to Večernji list, they acted together and discreetly.

A total of seven thefts were recorded, with victims being nationals of Taiwan, Ukraine, Croatia, Australia, Japan, and India. The material damage from these thefts is estimated at €4,950.

Online transactions and prevented larger damage

The investigation also covered three cases of computer fraud. Using data from stolen cards, the suspects made several unauthorized online payments, causing damage to nationals of Taiwan and Australia. In this way, they obtained an additional €9,241, according to the police report reported by Dulist.

In one case, the bank timely stopped a transaction of €13,340, preventing larger damage. The total material damage suffered by the victims amounts to €14,191.

Report and recommendations

A criminal report was filed against the three Bulgarian women with the competent state attorney's office in Dubrovnik. The Dubrovnik-Neretva County Police Department once again warned citizens and tourists to be cautious, especially in crowded places. It is recommended that backpacks and bags be closed and kept under supervision, and in case of loss or theft of a bank card, the bank should be contacted immediately for blocking.

The police emphasized that with this investigation, after previously solving four apartment burglaries and a series of criminal offenses related to skimming devices on ATMs, almost all serious property crimes committed in the Dubrovnik area during June and July of this year have been solved.
